1890's Bodice

Recently de-accessioned from a New York State museum with its old accession numbered tag and label still attached. An original circa 1897 lady's black figured silk bodice with fashionable broad lapels and an open front that reveals a soft mauve colored taffeta pleated yoke overlaid with beaded tulle. Stylish puff tops to the slender sleeves with lace decorated turned cuffs that repeats on the lapels. A stand up silk collar with a satin back bow, and a blind front hook and eye closure. Lined and stayed, with a Rochester, N.Y. maker's name on the inner cinch waist band. Shown with a brown silk skirt that is not included. 14" from shoulder to shoulder, a 36" bust, 26" waist and 20" from shoulder to front hem point. In very nice clean as found condition, with two 1" surface holes near one shoulder top in the tulle overlay, and a few pin dot to 1/8" scattered holes. All is reflected in the reserve price for this lovely late Victorian era bodice.
