This is a place for any extant garments in private collections from about 1929 back. There is no beginning date. The only rule is that it can't be currently in a museum and must be before a time my Great Aunts can remember. :-) I mostly post items I've seen on ebay, etsy, or other auction sites so we will continue to have a record of them for research purposes.

Bustle Dress Petticoat!
From the seller:
Lovely and unusual C1870 hoop petticoat cover with beautiful handstitched Broderie Anglaise whitework embroidery
The beautiful embroidery is 5 1/4" wide in the front and 2 1/4" wide in the back and up the side opening
This lovely petticoat cover was worn over the hoop petticoat to protect the dress from snagging on the hoops
It measures 23" at the waist, is 40" long at the longest and 30" long at the shortest. It measures 96" around
It has ties to control the bustle area and a vertical string in a seam to gather the bottom up as needed making a lovely draping effect
It is open on one side in the back and this is where it drapes over the bustle and has a lace covered finishing edge
