Wow! In the late 18th and throughout the 19th Centuries Turkish fashions influenced Western Lounge Wear. Most remember Amelia Bloomer and her attempt to transition from the confining early Victorian into the more relaxed Turkish influenced dress; but many forget that Turkish fashions were worn well before and after that. This Ottoman women's coat would be the overdress, worn over at least two other layers. The dagged edges are really fascinating since those seem rare in many illuminations and drawings of the time.
