Black Velvet Bodice Waist
This auction is for an exceptional piece of Victorian fashion , an original 1870s ball gown bodice. Buttery soft solid black velvet V construction in the front and back with front and back corset style lacing, brown cotton chintz lining. Each section is created with 3 panels that have curved seams. There is a very thin most likely piece of cane that creates the stiff holding up to be laced in place. Also 5 - 5.5" stays on each side. Superb black silk lace along with wave like trim that is decorated with tiny black glass balls beading are on the top and straps, while the bottom is decorated with black thinner wave loops that also has more tiny balls beading along the top and fabulous dangling cylinder cording. All quite unique and very lovely. Some of the trim will need to be reattached. It seems that none is missing except for a few of the cylinders. Each panel is 15" wide across at the top from eyelet to eyelet, at the bottom long point to point is 7". The straps are 1" wide and 11" long, one side will need to be attached. My photos cannot do this superb piece justice, black is always difficult to photo and I dont have laces to fit a mannequin. You will not be disappointed. Happy Bidding or why wait, BUY NOW!
