1850's Plaid Dress
A striking 1860’s Civil War era brown and tan plaid silk dress. The bodice has full pagoda style sleeves. The tops of the sleeves are trimmed with tan silk covered buttons. The edge of the sleeve is trimmed with embroidered tan silk trim. The bodice is lined with cotton. The neck, waist and armscyes are piped. The skirt was originally attached to the bodice but along the way is was removed from the bodice and a waistband was added. The skirt can easily be put back into place. The skirt is fully lined with cotton. The dress is in being offered for study or pattern. There is a 1 inch split near the armscye and a two inch split on the back near the armscye. The edge of the hemline has several areas of splitting. The reserve reflects the flaws Bust 34 Waist 26 Skirt length 41 Width at hemline 146.
I know, the seller says 1860's. However, I really think this is late 1850's based on the sleeves.
