1880's Brown Plaid Day Dress

From the seller:
1885 gray and white plaid silk bustle dress that has recently been de-accessioned from a New York state historical society. The cataloging numbers are written inside the skirt waistband. The bodice has a high neck brown velvet insert. The cuffs and back center peplum are trimmed with brown velvet. The bodice is lined with cotton and has a side hook and eye closure with brown lacing on the lower part of the bodice. The skirt has a gathered and pleated front panel and back pleating. It is lined with cotton. The dress is in very good and sturdy condition. There are a few scattered slightly larger than pencil tip size holes. There is a three inch repair on one of the back pleats. There is no discoloration just shadows created by the camera flash and no underarm discoloration. There are a couple of small stress marks at the top of the sleeves. None of the age flaws are major and do not distract from the overall appearance. A very elegant display gown. Bust 32 Waist 24 Skirt length 42

From Me:

This is one of the few sellers on ebay who, whatever they say, it's probably correct.
