Gold Turn of the Century Edwardian Gown

From the seller:

A very nice silk afternoon gown dating around 1900-1905. Maison Ch.Drécoll. The dress was purchased at William Doyle Galleries in New York, at the Couture&Textile auction May 12th, 1999.It originally belonged to early American actress Lulu Glasser. It was sold together with a velvet Maison Raudnitz walking suit, just to explain the page from the original catalogue. Beautiful exampel of Paris Haute Couture, with great provience. The dress has considerable splitting of silk. I is only for display, study or restauration. The silk taffeta lining should be replaced completely and may be the rips can be fixed with a new under-layer. The skirt has 1 part (see picture), where the silk is shattered. I think, with some time the dress might be restored, at least the condition could be improved ;-) . Also, the historic background is very interesting. A couple of Paris couture dresses have been sold that day from Lulu Glasser. Its a very tiny size, it does not fit on the victorian mannequin (as you can see on the picture). I hope the dress . Its a great piece to display, absolutely not wearable. But no stains, just splitting of silk.

From Me:

Polka dots!!!! *dies*
