Brown Silk Turn of the Century Dress

From the seller:

A stunning 1890’s dark chocolate brown silk traveling dress that has recently been de-accessioned from a major New York City museum collection. The cataloging tag is stitched inside the jacket. The label reads E. H. Fowler, Brooklyn, NY.  The fabric has a small white dot pattern.  The color is a much darker brown then appears in the photos.  The jacket and skirt are lavishly adored with black soutach trim done in a pattern of lined and large flowers.  The jacket has a front insert made of white silk and trimmed with black soutach.  The sleeve cuffs are trimmed in the same manner. The jacket is lined with silk and has a front hook and eye closure.  The skirt is unlined and has a long back sweep.  The dress is in very good condition.  There are no splits or holes in the brown fabric.  There is no underarm discoloration.  The white silk on the front insert is splitting and has some missing fabric.  A very attractive display dress.  Bust 34 Waist 30 Front skirt length 40 Back length 52.

I'm not a fan of the color but the style looks very promising. :-)
