Bustle Gown! Quilted Petticoat!

From the seller:

Authentic bustle dress & petticoat from the 1800s. Was made for a neighbor of mine's family over 150 years ago. Cape is handmade and was passed down to her with the dress but more than likely wasn't made with the dress even though it nicely matches it.
Please let me know if I have missed some important detail or if you have any questions, would like to preview the outfit, etc. You can call me at 760.412.2337 or contact me through ebay. Thanks.

Jacket
14 black glass buttons with worn golf leaf designs adorn this black and dark blue velvet jacket. The right side of the jacket has lightly pinstriped dark blue velvet while the left is solid on both the jacket front and arm. Velvet cuffs with shirred elastic fabric closure. Sewn in watch pocket on hip. Rear of jacket terminates in frilly trim and there is a sewn ribbon bow that would sit on the wearer's rear just where the bustle starts to pouf out for shape. Cream lace shows just on the neckline.

14" NECK
15" ACROSS SHOULDERs
18.5" SLEEVE
12" BICEP
10" ELBOW
41" BUST
23" NECK to BOTTOM of JACKET FRONT
29" NECK to BOTTOM of JACKET BACK
10" WRIST CUFF
30" JACKET WAIST

*in good condition with some repair necessary. It looks as though someone tried to wear this jacket that was a larger size. Front armpit tear on one side looks to have been repaired and one side not repaired. Back side some of the fabric is worn on the cuffs and there is a tear on one elbow as well as some loose stitches here and there.

Skirt
Layers of black silk and dark blue velvet folded and sewn into what makes the matching bottom of this dress. Terminating in matching frilly trim with a slightly pleated beautifully gathered bustle.

30" WAIST Closure
40" WAIST to HEM of DRESS FRONT
53" WAIST to TAIL of BUSTLE
102" HEM ROUND

*in good condition with some repair necessary. Worn hemline has some damage on the lower hemline but luckily most of it falls on the liner with some light damage all the way on the bottom of the silk. Some of the stitches on the skirt have pulled out or are loose but overall the entire outfit is in awesome condition for it's age and taking into consideration what some of my clothes look like after being worn once.

Quilted Petticoat

29" WAIST Closure
41" WAIST to HEM
120" HEM ROUND

*in great condition with a few marks and water spots.

Cape?
Not entirely sure that this piece was made at the same time as the dress, but it is handsewn, from the same period and looks to have been made to wear with the dress. The fabric, buttons, lace and trim are all different but closely matched to the dress in style and appearance although the buttons have some asian influence in style.

40" NECK to ARM both sides or 80" total
33" NECK to BOTTOM BACK

*in great conditon.

From Me:

I heart this. A Lot! I doubt the petticoat is from the same time period - I think it's probably a good generation earlier but since it's the same lot we'll keep them together.
