Lovely Titanic Era Summer Dress

From the seller:

Antique Wedding Dress from the Edwardian Era ca. 1910. This gorgeous dress' body is woven silk or silk blend with overlay of laces and soft netting. Dress is ankle or tea length. The dress is best suited for display as noted in conditions below.

The bodice has a silk under blouse covered in center "V" front and back with gathered netting. Sleeves and bodice sides are the woven silk with gathered lace over shoulders to waist. There are netting ruffles on sleeve ends. Waist has ruffled lace with silk roses above gathered pink silk encircling to back ending with 2 falls.

Skirt is gathered from waist to above knees in front and dips in back. This gathered area is garnished with net ruffling. Gorgeous lace overlays most of the remainder of the skirt. There is a net and lace underskirt.

The dress is completely hand tailored with the exception of main seams (see last image for close-up of stitching).

Dress is very small and probably was worn over a corset - Bodice was full, waist small, then gathered over hips.

* Bust underarm to underarm - 38"
* Waist - 22"
* Hips - full
* Length shoulder seam to back hem - 38"

Condition: Dress is clean - The dress was very "dusty" when bought so I needed to soak and gently hand wash until water was clear. As noted above this dress is best suited for display or pattern. The pink silk surrounding waist is completely deteriorated and needs replacing I noted some pulls & tears in lace and netting. There are also some small holes in body of dress.

Though not in wearable condition this 100 year old dress is still a beautiful dress as is.

From Me:

So not a wedding dress. (Dearest sellers, white does not equal wedding dress. If that were true, then my above the knee lace prom dress was a wedding gown.) Rather, this is a lovely day dress from the early teens era. Look at that skirt!
