1820's Regency Stays

From the seller:

Original, late Regency era ladies' corset. Cotton with decorative stitching, owner's name ink stamped on inner lining. It measures 28 inches at bust (measured under armpits) , 24 inches at waist, 30-1/2 inches at hips, center front top to bottom is 15-1/2 inches. The center busk boning has been removed and sleeve is stitched closed. CONDITION: very good, small amount of light soiling, see photos. This item came from a Massachusetts estate. It has been in storage and we have not tried to clean it.

From Me:

I wish I had saved more of the pictures for this one. It is lovely. One minor correction to the seller's statement - they were called stays until 1826 when the word "corset" first appears in the English language.
