This is a place for any extant garments in private collections from about 1941 back. There is no beginning date. The only rule is that it can't be currently in a museum and must be before the bombing of Pearl Harbor. I mostly post items I've seen on ebay, etsy, or other auction sites so we will continue to have a record of them for research purposes. If you have antique clothing in your collection, please, email me pictures of them and I will gladly add them to this site.

American Civil War Era Bodice
From the seller:
A beautiful 1860’s Civil War Era blue plaid silk bodice. The fabric is designed in shades of blue, tan white and black. The bodice has full pagoda style sleeves that are trimmed with black lace. It is lined with cotton and has a front hook and eye closure. The neck. shoulders, armsyes, and waist are piped. The bodice is in very good and sturdy condition. There is no discoloration just shadows created by the camera flash. There are no splits or holes. There is some very light underarm discoloration. Bust 34 Waist 30.
From Me:
Although the waist looks bigger than normal for this era, remember that this is an above normal waistline. The waistlines were starting to hike up again by the end of the Civil War and get very high by the late 1860's.
