Pretty Purple 1890's Bodice

From the seller:

Antique Victorian women's lavender silk, lace, steel cut beaded bodice

This antique Victorian silk, lace, and steel cut beaded bodice is a rare and unusual piece! The lavender silk is heavily embellished with the most amazing steel cut hand beading. I can't even imagine how much time was spent on the beading alone! The sumptuous lace at the neck, yoke, shoulders, and bottom of the sleeves is just beautiful. This bodice is definitely the most elaborate one I've ever come across, and is an exquisite example of the time, talent, and handwork that went into these vintage treasures! This is a piece that would be a fabulous addition to your collection, and would be a gorgeous piece for display!

CONDITION: This bodice is in good condition (I would like to say very good, but my idea of grading for the condition of these antique pieces is more forgiving than most) with about 6 tiny pinholes. The lace around the neck is shredding, but it could be completely removed without compromising the integrity or beauty of the bodice. There are also some holes in the lace at the bottom of the right sleeve. It is probably a size extra small, and the measurements are approximately as follows:

Bust - 32"
Waist - 23"
Length - 17"
Sleeve length - 23 1/2"

From Me:

Cute!

  1. This is incredible and so beautiful. I've been looking through this blog since yesterday and I noticed a lot of lovely pieces, but also bodices. Would this have been worn with a shirt (that is no longer available) and if so, then what would it had looked like?
