Early 1870's Bodice





 From the Seller:
DATING TO THE CIVIL WAR ERA

FASHIONED OF A VIBRANT PURPLE SILK TAFFETA

BELL PAGODA SLEEVES FLARING FULL WITH NOTCH CUT OUT

SPADE TAIL IN REAR, HIGH SIDES, STRAIGHT TAILS IN FRONT

HOOKS CLOSED UP THE FRONT WITH HAND HAMMERED HOOK AND EYES

FULLY BONED IN THE FRONT

SMALL SPATTER STAINING SEEN ON THE SIDE UNDER THE BUST, LOOKS LIKE METAL HOOKS OR BEADS DISCOLORED THE FABRIC

TRIM REMOVED FROM THE BOTTOM CUFFS EDGES

NO HOLES

STRONG WEARABLE CONDITION

....Wearable condition?!? I can't even...

Anyway, this one was a hard one to date. I think, based on the elongated front and the peplum at the back, that it's from the early 1870's. The fashion plate above is from 1871 and shows a similar waistline and hem treatment. You still see the wide sleeves at that point as well.
