Post American Civil War Dress

From the seller:

A magnificent 1860’s shimmering royal blue printed silk dress. The fabric has a changeable quality depending on the light reflection. The color shows best in the close up photos. The dress has been de-accessioned from a museum collection and the cataloging tag is inside the bodice. The bodice is decorated with royal blue satin and royal blue silk fringe. The bodice has a peplum hemline and the center back is decorated with a large rosette that is trimmed with satin and silk fringe. The bodice is lined with cotton and a front hook and eye closure. The blue satin buttons are decorative. The skirt is lined with cotton. The dress is in very good condition. There is slight underarm discoloration on the inside lining only. There are surface only holes in the silk under the arms but this does not show when displayed. A beautiful display dress. Bust 30 ½ Waist 24 Front skirt length 39 Back length 46 Width at hemline 130.

This might have been another "made from an earlier dress" but I doubt it in this case. The trim around the neckline as well as the "skirts" on the bodice are very in keeping with the later 1860's styles. I'm guessing about 1866.
